Suffolk County, NY - May 6, 2015 - An East Moriches man convicted of the rape and sodomy of a woman in a Stony Brook home will be sentenced tomorrow, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

On the night of November 20, 2012 Patrick O’Sullivan wore a mask and carried a loaded rifle as he entered the house through an unlocked door. He sexually assaulted the female house - sitter after restraining the victim with duct tape.

In February, the defendant, 23, pleaded guilty to rape, criminal sexual act, burglary, sexual abuse and conspiracy. The conspiracy charge stemmed from O’Sullivan’s unsuccessful efforts while incarcerated in the county jail to hire a hit man to kill the victim and another person he believed would testify against him. For the conspiracy crime, the defendant will be sentenced to a concurrent prison term of up to 25 years.

Judge Barbara Kahn will preside at sentencing which is likely to commence after 10:00 am.

The victim is expected to attend and deliver a victim’s impact statement.
