Authorities: 17 Year-Old Copiague HS Student Arrested for Making School Threat

Copiague, NY - May 8, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Monday, May 7, arrested a 17-year-old male student who made a school threat.
 
A 17 year-old male student in his junior year at Copiague High School communicated messages through Instagram to a female classmate on May 6th, at approximately 9 p.m. The messages consisted of several threats against the students in the Copiague High School class of 2019, as well as suicidal statements. After a thorough investigation by the First Precinct Crime Section, officers arrested the 17-year-old male student on May 6 at approximately 7 p.m.
 
The 17-year-old male student was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 8, 2018.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
