Man Killed in Ridge Motor Vehicle Crash, Suffolk Authorities Say

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Ridge on Tuesday, May 7.
 
Candace Porter was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla northbound on Wading River Hollow Road when the vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda Sedan, driven by Necmi Gurel, that was travelling westbound on Middle Country Road at approximately 12:10 a.m.
 
Gurel, 57, of Farmingville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Porter, 29, of Amityville, was transported via Ridge Rescue ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
