AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

NCPD: Fatal Vehicular Accident in Farmingdale

Four have been declared dead and three others were transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Jesse J, Romero, 18, of South Farmingdale.
Carly Lonborg, 14, of South Farmingdale.
Noah Francis, 15, of Farmingdale.
Cody Talanian, 17, of Farmingdale was pronounced at 10:00pm on May 11, 2014 by Dr. Aversano at Nassau University Medical Center.
 
Original Relase- Famingdale, NY - May 10, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident that occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 12:04 a.m. in Farmingdale.
 
According to detectives, a 2001 Nissan was travelling westbound on Conklin Street being driven by a male when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes and was struck by GMC Suburban operated by a male 53 years of age. The impact of the collision resulted in two male passengers being ejected. One male was pronounced deceased at the scene the other was transported to the hospital and is in serious condition. Two other passengers in the vehicle, a female and a male were also killed upon impact.  The driver was transported to a local hospital where he was also pronounced deceased. The driver and female passenger of the second vehicle were transported to a local hospital and admitted in serious condition. Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
