NCPD: Westbury Man Busted Recklessly Driving Drunk with 4-Year-Old Child in the Vehicle

The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Westbury man for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:05 a.m. in Westbury.
 
According to Police, while on patrol an Officer observed a red 2012 Dodge Ram pickup commit multiple Vehicle Traffic Infractions and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Stewart Avenue near the intersection of Grand Boulevard. 
 
The investigation revealed the driver, defendant Doroteo Morales Rodriguez, 43, of 812 Grand Boulevard, with slurred speech, watery eyes, an odor of an alcohol emanating from his breath and to be unsteady on his feet resulting in positive results on the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Defendant Rodriguez was placed under arrest without incident. 
 
No injuries were reported. The vehicles passenger, a male juvenile, 4, was released into the custody of a family friend that responded to scene. 
 
Defendant Doroteo Morales Rodriguez is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two  counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Infractions. Defendant Rodriguez will be arraigned on Friday, May 10, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
