Yaphank, NY - May 9, 2014 - United Way of Long Island partnered with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management to help U.S. Veterans. Coming together with a painting crew, they spackled and painted the kitchen as well as additional rooms at a house in Yaphank, NY. The house is operated by Suffolk County United Veterans and provides housing to formerly homeless Veterans along with and a range of professional and peer support services. At the end of the day, thanks to United Way of Long Island and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, the Veterans had a much nicer place to call home.

Suffolk County United Veterans, founded in 1989, serves the homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families of Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. The organization operates eight sites of progressively-tiered housing in conjunction with a comprehensive range of programs and support services. Its mission is, “To give homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families the support they need to regain their dignity and independence.”
