SCPD: North Amityville Man Arrested, Drugs, Loaded Gun Seized During Execution of Search Warrant

SCPD arrested Jean Evans of North Amityville, 27, and seized drugs and a handgun from his home.

North Amityville, NY - May 11, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a North Amityville man and seized drugs and a loaded handgun during the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, May 10, 2018.
 
In response to neighborhood complaints of drug activity, detectives from the First Precinct Special Operations Team (SOT) along with officers from the First Precinct Gang Unit, Emergency Service Section and Canine Section executed a search warrant at a residence on Emerald Lane South at 6:17 a.m.
 
During the search, a loaded 9mm handgun, which had been stolen from Georgia in August 2017, along with ammunition, approximately seven grams of crack, approximately $11,000 in cash, a cell phone, drug packaging and scales were recovered.
 
Jean Evans, 27, who lives at the home, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree and two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree.
 
Evans will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 11.
