Suspect Arrested for Stabbing Two Men in Hempstead

Hempstead, NY - May 12th, 2015 - Third Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for an assault that occurred in Hempstead on Monday, 05/11/15 at 1:50 A.M.
 
According to detectives, Marvin Mejia, 32, of Elk Ct., Hempstead, while in front of 71 Main St., stabbed two male victims, ages 32 and 38, in the abdomen with a knife after arguing with them. One of the victims struck the defendant on the head with a belt while trying to protect himself.
 
Both victims were transported by private auto to a local hospital for treatment of puncture wounds to the abdomen. They are listed in stable condition. 
 
Third Squad detectives arrested Mejia at a local hospital, where he was treated and released for a head laceration, and then transported to the Third Squad.  Mejia is being charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree,  Possession Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and will be arraigned on Tuesday, 05/12/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
