AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Rocky Point, NY, May 2013 – Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker recognized Eagle Scout recipients Thomas Lettieri, Daniel O’Connor, Kyle Spira, Dylan Magee, Francis Luglio, Brian Lounsbury, and Shawn Countess from Troop 244 of Rocky Point. The Court of Honor was held on May 11th at Rocky Point High School.

“These young men have proven themselves to be leaders within our community,” said Legislator Anker. “I would like to congratulate them on achieving Eagle Scout.”

Through their hard work and determination, the boys completed numerous requirements for their Eagle Scout Awards. Projects included enhancements to landscaping, recreational facilities, and installing new equipment at community centers. The projects were performed at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai, Little Flower in Wading River, Rocky Point Parish Resource Center, Temple Isaiah in Stony Brook, Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Point, and beach communities in both Rocky Point and Sound Beach.
