Mount Sinai, NY, April 2013 – On Thursday, April 25, Legislator Sarah Anker met with students from Molloy College’s nursing program at her district office. The meeting was an open dialogue about the career opportunities that are available to graduating nurses, and how government may be able to assist students in finding work after college.

“As Chair of the County’s Education Committee, I will continue to find ways for our youth to find well-paying jobs on Long Island,” Anker said.  “Our college students are graduating and facing the hardship of college loans during a time of high unemployment. Keeping them on Long Island is vital to their success and also the success of our local economy.”

The meeting came just two days after Legislator Anker’s legislation for the JOBS Opportunity Board (Introductory Resolution 1116) was approved by the General Legislature. The JOBS Opportunity Board, which was formed in cooperation with the Suffolk County Workforce, will examine the ways in which Suffolk County can help college students find jobs through internships, mentorships, and resume-building programs.
