Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a crash that killed a woman in Bay Shore last night.

Bay Shore, NY - May 13, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a crash that killed a woman in Bay Shore last night.

Ishwer Wadhwa was crossing 5th Avenue in Bay Shore when she was struck by a 2000 Nissan Maxima that was traveling southbound on 5th Avenue at 8:47 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, Jerson Ventura, 32, of Wyandanch, drove to the Third Precinct to report the crash.

Wadhwa, 66, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555.
