Stew Leonard's, the popular supermarket chain that boasts two locations on Long Island - East Meadow and Farmingdale - is looking to open a new location in Connecticut, the state where the company was both founded and is currently headquartered.
The chain is looking at the town of Orange in New Haven County in addition to several other areas in the state to open their new supermarket, which would be their ninth. In years past they had attempted to open a location in Orange, but received pushback by local residents; they subsequently abandoned the effort in 2010.
An announcement, according to a spokesperson, will be made by the end of the year.
Currently, Stew Leonard's - deemed "The World's Largest Dairy by Ripley's Believe It or Not! - currently has Connecticut locations in Norwalk, Danbury, and Newington, in addition to Yonkers, East Meadow and Farmingdale in New York and Paramus and Clifton in New Jersey.
