Lake Placid, NY - May 14, 2016 - On Saturday, May 14, in Park City, Utah, Jim Leahy, CEO of USA Luge made a final presentation to the USA Luge Board of Directors with respect to the RFP process USA Luge undertook about a year ago to determine the location of the association’s headquarters.

Quoting Jim Leahy: “After careful review and discussion on bids from Lake Placid, N.Y. and Park City, Utah, the Board have unanimously approved to keep their headquarters in Lake Placid for the next five years.

“Key existing factors like the Olympic Training Center, indoor refrigerated start facility and access to the USOC Sport Medicine facilities weighted heavily in favor of Lake Placid. The State of New York, through the N.Y. Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), has made a significant commitment to make capital improvements on behalf of USA Luge. In addition, New York Empire State Development will partner with USA Luge in a co-marketing initiative by providing funds to help support the performance of its mission.

“I would like to thank N.Y. Governor Andrew Cuomo and Andrew Kennedy, Deputy Director of State Operations, Ted Blazer, CEO of ORDA, Jim McKenna, CEO of the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism and Richard Newman, EVP Empire State Development (ESD) as well as Lindsey Boylan, Gavin Landry and Kevin Younis at ESD.  Their support through this process has led us to this announcement.

“I would also like to thank Colin Hilton, President & CEO Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation and Jeff Robbins, President & CEO Utah Sports Commission for their support during this process.

“USA Luge will continue to have a robust presence in Park City for many years to come.”
