AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Police Seeking Far Rockaway Man for Allegedly Punching, Choking, and Robbing Female Victim

Jonathan Rivera, 19, snatched a purse out of a female acquaintance's hands and then assaulted her, cops say.

NCPD are seeking Jonathan Rivera of Far Rockaway, 19, in connection with an Assault.

Inwood, NY - May 17, 2018 - Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an Assault which occurred on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Inwood.
 
According to detectives, the 18 year old female victim was at a residence on Doughty Blvd. and was approached by suspect Jonathan Rivera, 19, of Far Rockaway. Suspect who is an acquaintance snatched victim’s purse out of her hands and began to choke, punch and kick her on the head and body. Suspect then used the victim’s phone and struck her in the face with it. Suspect then fled the scene on foot-west on Redfern Ave. His whereabouts are unknown at this time. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for bruises and swelling to her face, head and hip.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jonathan Rivera to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
