This Week's Adorable Adoptables: Meet Joy, Lefty and Barley!
LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.
The adorable little kitty pictured above is Joy. This little sweetheart abandoned at a college campus and left to fend for herself. A kind person found her very hungry and frightened and rescued her from this fate. Joy is estimated to be about 3 ½ years old, and her favorite hobbies include being pet under her chin and around her ears! This sweetheart is looking for a second chance in a forever home where she will be loved and cherished! If you have room in your heart and home for Joy, contact Last Hope Adoption Center located at 3300 Beltagh AVe Wantagh, NY or check out their website.
Who’s black and white and adorable all over? It’s Lefty! Lefty has quite a unique look with with Lab mix coloring, Border Collie eyes, and a soprano Collie bark all combined with a repertoire of adorable tricks! For a treat, “Lefty” will “sit,” “shake” and almost “down”, but he insists on only giving his LEFT paw when he “shakes”, no matter what. Lefty is just a cool dude who would love to be your new best friend. Head down to Last Hope to meet him or check out his webpage.
There’s a new obsession happening over at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, and it’s all about Barley. No, not the grain… the dog! This two year old goof ball is completely housetrained (which is a total score!) he is playful with toys, friendly with strangers, knows “sit” and he is even SOCIAL WITH DOGS! So basically, Barley is the best, and whoever gets him is going to be hitting the adoption jackpot! Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or visit him at 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.
Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt- never shop. Pass it on!
