Hempstead Man Arrested After Nabbed with Crack, Heroin During Traffic Stop, NCPD Says

NCPD reports the arrest of Christopher Wright of Hempstead, 31, for a narcotics related incident.

Hempstead, NY - May 18, 2018 - Major Case Bureau detectives from the Gang Investigations Squad report the arrest of a Hempstead man for a narcotics related incident that occurred on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9:30 pm in Hempstead.
 
During a routine traffic stop in the vicinity of 65 Main Street, detectives approached the vehicle that was occupied by a female driver and a male front seat passenger.
 
After observing the male passenger, Christopher Wright, 31, placing a clear plastic containing a unknown substance onto the floor, detectives asked the occupants to exit the vehicle. Wright, upon exiting the car, then attempted to run from the scene on foot, was apprehended and began to resist arrest for several minutes until he was placed into custody. Recovered from the vehicle was a clear plastic bag containing three large pieces of crack cocaine and thirty decks of heroin.
 
Wright is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and an unrelated warrant charge for Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 5/18/2018.
 
The female driver was issued two traffic tickets and was released.
