At 317 AM EDT, The heavy rainfall has moved east of the warned area. Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced between 6 and 10 inches of rainfall across the area since 9 pm, with hourly rainfall rates as high as 3 to 4 inches per hour. Significant and widespread flood impacts have been reported, and will continue overnight. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Northwestern Suffolk County. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. Elmont Man Charged with Driving Drunk With Two Children in Vehicle, Authorities Report

The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of an Elmont man for DWI-Leandra’s Law in Elmont.
 
According to Police, officers were responding to a call for a car driving on its rim with no tire. Officers observed Oscar Collahuazo, 41, facing east bound parked in front of 199 Hempstead Turnpike in a 2015 Nissan with a missing drivers side tire and a broken rim. The Officers initiated a car stop. During the investigation it was discovered that the defendant had bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The defendant’s 11 year old daughter and 7 year old son were both passengers in the vehicle at the time of arrest. The children were released into the custody of their mother.
 
The defendant, Oscar Collahuazo, is charged with two counts of Driving while intoxicated, two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16-Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering the welfare of a Child, and multiple VTL infractions. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
