On May 19thLegislator Stephanie Bontempi (R-18th L.D.) once again joined with her colleagues in government, Assemblyman Keith Brown (R-12th A.D) and Assemblyman Steve Stern (D-10th A.D), to co-host the annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast. Held at the American Legion Post 360, the breakfast drew veterans from near and far to spend some quality time with one another in a fun and relaxed setting.
“We made sure that this event would have no long speeches made by elected officials,” said Bontempi. “The point of the breakfast is to honor the veterans and let them know we are thankful for their service and care about their wellbeing.”
In addition to sharing memories and enjoying the delicious food, the attendees had an opportunity to hear Ms. Melanie Corinne, a Marine Corps veteran, speak about the Dwyer Project. The Dwyer project is a peer-to-peer program for any veteran going through a life crisis. Veterans in need of assistance can call the Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 and then pressing 1. “We can always do more for our veterans, and I am looking forward to growing this event each year,” added Bontempi.
