AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Driver Fled Scene After Striking Pedestrian in Bay Shore, Officials Say

SCPD are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a Mercedes-Benz ML Class who fled the scene after striking a victim in Bay Shore last month. Above is a picture of a similar vehicle.

Bay Shore, NY - May 24, 2017 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Third Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the person who fled the scene after striking a victim in Bay Shore last month.
 
On Friday, April 21 at approximately 10:10 p.m., on Candlewood Road, west of 5th Avenue, a male victim was found lying on the street, unconscious. He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was treated for serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene.
 
Detectives believe the vehicle is a 2006-2008 Mercedes-Benz ML Class. The vehicle may have damage to the driver side front-end fender and damage to the light housing. The color of the vehicle is not known at this time. Below is a picture of a similar vehicle.
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
