Driver Arrested for DWI, Passenger Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash in Brentwood

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after his passenger was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Brentwood last evening.

Brentwood, NY - May 26, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after his passenger was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Brentwood last evening.

Jose Trigueros, 25, was driving a 2005 Nissan Sentra when his vehicle failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Prospect Drive and Eastern Avenue and struck a tree at approximately 9:45 p.m. Elia Treminio-Martinez, 38, Brentwood, the passenger in the vehicle, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she is listed in stable condition with a broken femur. Trigueros was also transported to Southside Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Trigueros, of Willoughby Street, Brentwood, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
