Juvenile Busted While Joy-Riding in Stolen Vehicle in Elmont, Officials Say

The male juvenile is charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Assault 3rd Degree and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations.

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a male juvenile for an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 12:40 pm in Elmont.
 
According to Detectives, Officers received a 911 call for a stolen vehicle from Belmont Boulevard. Prior to police arrival, officers observed a 2020 white Volkswagen matching the vehicles description traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Elmont Road. 
          
A short time later, while in the confines of New York City, the subject’s vehicle struck the rear of a 2021 Jeep Cherokee that was being operated by a female, 32, causing the subjects vehicle to overturn. The male juvenile exited the vehicle and attempted to flee scene but was apprehended by officers. The male juvenile and the female driver were transported to local area hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. 
 
No other injuries were reported. 
 
The male juvenile is charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Assault 3rd Degree and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. He was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to Nassau County Family Court.
