County, State and Town Officials Turn Out for Kent Animal Shelter Groundbreaking Ceremony

Written by Chris Boyle  |  29. May 2024

Town, County and State Officials showed support for Kent Animal Shelter's $4,300,000 building project at groundbreaking ceremony. The original kennel was built in 1968 and is currently being demolished. The isolation facility will house new rescues while they receive veterinary care before being introduced into the general population for adoption.

It will take approximately 6-8 months to complete the project. In the end, a newly designed kennel with increased capacity to rescue more animals will be completed! Our dogs for adoption have been relocated to the Bide a Wee Home in Westhampton, 118 Old Country Rd. Adoptions will continue throughout the time that it takes to build Kent's Forever Home.

A new isolation/quarantine building is also being constructed at the same time. Please note-The cattery and cat adoptions and the low cost spay/neuter/wellness clinic will not be affected during this period and will continue to operate as usual on the grounds of the Kent Shelter in Calverton.

Please contact the adoption office at 631-727-5731 ext. 1 for more adoption information.

Come meet our dogs for adoption at Bide a Wee Home in Westhampton! If you would like more information about the building project, or to find out how you can help, contact Pamela Green, Executive Director at pamgreen@kentanimalshelter.com.
