Melville, NY - May 29, 2014 - Integrated Medical Foundation (IMF), a 501 (c) 3 organization that promotes awareness and early detection of prostate cancer, announced its third annual Belmont Stakes “Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer®” at Belmont Park to be held on Sunday, June 1. Kicking off Belmont Stakes Festival Week, runners will take their mark at 7:15pm!
IMF’s race is an opportunity for families to spend the day at the historic Belmont Park, and have an opportunity to understand the risk of prostate cancer among males as one out of every six men will have prostate cancer in his lifetime, according to IMF.
“Last year, our event attracted more than 1,000 attendees and we want it to keep growing exponentially,” said Rhonda Samuel, Executive Director, Integrated Medical Foundation. “We are working hard to spread the message about the importance of early detection as 240,000 men will be newly diagnosed this year, and more than 30,000 will die from the disease. The race is an opportunity to help men understand the importance of getting a prostate cancer screening.”
In participation with sponsors such as Shiel Medical Labs, Advanced Urology Centers of NY and Advanced Radiation Centers of NY, Integrated Medical Foundation is working with Belmont Park, the New York Racing Authority, The Elmont Chamber of Commerce and the Greater LI Running Club to help make this event a crowning moment for prostate cancer awareness. Just one week later, the Belmont Stakes horserace may also be a crowning moment for a Triple Crown winner! Food and entertainment will be provided after the race by local restaurants.
