Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash Over Memorial Day Weekend

East Islip, NY - May 28, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed a woman in East Islip today.

Eileen Magee was driving a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on Harwood Avenue at 11:55 a.m. when her vehicle struck a 1998 Chevrolet Astro van that was traveling eastbound on Union Boulevard, driven by Maureen Bodkin.

Following the collision, the van struck a 2002 Chevrolet Prism that was stopped in a turning lane westbound on Union Avenue at Harwood Avenue, driven by Margaret Lanigan. The Astro van overturned several times.

 Bodkin, 62, of Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Magee, 57, of Hicksville, was transported to Southside Hospital for minor injuries and Lanigan, 81, of Islip, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352.
