With tens of thousands of fans expected to pack a newly built temporary stadium in Eisenhower Park for the Cricket T20 World Cup Tournament starting June 1, PSEG Long Island announced it has prepared the electric infrastructure that serves the nearby facilities supporting the event.
“PSEG Long Island is excited the Cricket T20 World Cup will be hosted on Long Island in our service area,” said David Lyons, PSEG Long Island’s interim president and COO. “We are committed to providing exceptional electric reliability. While the stadium itself is supplied by its own electrical generation, for the safety of the public, PSEG Long Island crews have worked to bolster the electric service to the area surrounding the stadium. They have performed inspections and maintenance of the specific transmission and distribution infrastructure that serve the facilities surrounding the stadium.”
In addition to the physical inspections and maintenance, PSEG Long Island will also have a presence at the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management each day of the event which begins with an exhibition game on June 1 and competition games June 3-12.
PSEG Long Island has spent a decade investing in making the grid more reliable and resilient, resulting in a 40% decrease in the frequency of outages and a 27% decrease in the duration of outages since 2014.
