Woodbury, NY - June 1, 2016 - EAC Network received a $10,000 grant from GEICO Corporate Community Citizens for its Safe Start initiative, which promotes child passenger safety through child car seat inspections and community outreach.
Injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident are a leading cause of death among children in the U.S. An estimated 46 percent of child safety seats are improperly used in a way that could reduce their effectiveness. Safe Start aims to greatly reduce that risk in our community. The program’s staff conducted 1,346 car seat inspections in 2015 that helped parents, guardians, and family members learn how to keep children safe in their vehicles.
"We're honored to expand our partnership with EAC Network so we can offer child safety seat inspections to more Long Island families," said John Pham, GEICO's regional vice president of New York operations.
"Installing a child safety seat often ends up being harder than it looks, so parents will no doubt leave these events with greater peace of mind after having a professional check for the proper fit."
Safe Start will be able to greatly expand its educational services thanks to GEICO’s generosity, including a fun and educational child safety event on September 24 at GEICO’s Woodbury office located at 750 Woodbury Rd.
