Massapequa Park resident and suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is due to be indicted this week in connection with the alleged murder of yet a fifth victim.

Heuermann, 60, is currently scheduled to be arraigned in Riverhead before State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei on Thursday, reports say, although the precise charges that are being levied against him are currently not publicly known, with media inquiries made to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney having been declined answers.

In May, authorities has combed Heuermann’s home yet again and had removed purported evidence in numerous boxes that potentially could have led to this week's additional charges.

Heuermann made national headlines when he was arrested on July 13, 2023, as a suspect in the Gilgo Beach case; he was charged the following day by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney in the murders of three of "the Gilgo Four" victims: Amber Lynn Costello, 27, Melissa Barthelemy, 24, and Megan Waterman, 22.

On January 16, DA Tierney unsealed additional charges against Heuermann at the Suffolk County Courthouse in Riverhead, tying him to the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, a fourth woman whose remains were discovered near Gilgo Beach; Heuermann was already the prime suspect in her death, and the evidence presented on Wednesday by Tierney was reportedly centered on her.
