Pedestrian Killed in Mastic When Vehicle Overturned in Two-Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash during which a pedestrian was killed this afternoon.

Louis Stellato, 55, of Yaphank was pronounced dead at the hospital after being struck in the two-vehicle crash in Mastic.

Mastic, NY - June 3, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash during which a pedestrian was killed this afternoon.

Rosa Guevara was driving a 2003 Toyota 4Runner southbound on Mastic Road at 12:15 p.m., at the intersection of Meadowmere Avenue, when her vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Cavalier traveling westbound on Meadowmere Avenue, driven by David Gordon. The Toyota struck a curb and overturned, striking a pedestrian who was walking on the eastbound side of Mastic Road.

The pedestrian, Louis Stellato, 55, of Yaphank, was transported by Mastic Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. Guevara, 31, of Shirley, Gordon, 62, of Mastic, and his passenger, Kimberly Gordon, 31, of Shirley, were not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
