Gun-Wielding Alleged Gang Member Arrested in East Meadow's Eisenhower Park, Police Report

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Rockville Centre man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 8:14 p.m. in East Meadow. 
 
According to the Gang Investigative Squad, Officers responded to a call for shots fired at Eisenhower Park located at 1899 Hempstead Turnpike. A description was broadcasted over the radio of a subject running through Eisenhower Park towards Merrick Avenue. 
 
Officers observed defendant Lamichael Taylor, 34, of 30 Old Mill Court, running through Eisenhower Park, hopping a fence and continuing southbound on Merrick Avenue towards Hempstead Turnpike. Officers apprehended defendant Taylor and placed him into custody without further incident. Subsequent to the investigation a semiautomatic Smith and Wesson M&P shield .40 caliber was recovered. 
 
Defendant Lamichael Taylor is being charged with Criminal Possession Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, June 5, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
