Hauppauge Man Under Arrest After Allegedly Ripping Off Nearly $80K Check from Victim, Cops Say

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Hauppauge man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 6:38 p.m. in Hicksville.
 
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, the US Treasury Department/Hardship Loan Program did mail a check for $79,876.52 to a female victim, 57, who resides in the state of Virginia. A thorough investigation revealed defendant Justin Meneses, 25, of 10 Spacecraft Lane did intercept, alter and deposit the check into his personal bank account, depriving the victim of her property. 
 
Following the investigation, defendant Meneses was arrested and processed without incident on June 5, 2024 at the Nassau County Police Department’s 8th Precinct located at 299 Hicksville Road, Bethpage.
 
Defendant Meneses is being charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree and Identity Theft 1st degree. Defendant Meneses will be arraigned on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
