Bayport, NY - June 8, 2016 - It was a weekend of fun, friendship and excitement as Girl Scouts of Suffolk County hosted its first-ever Camporee to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Camp Edey in Bayport on June 3-4. More than 1,200 Girl Scouts and adult volunteers flocked to Camp Edey to mark the momentous occasion.

The weekend consisted of an overnight camping experience Friday night into Saturday, complete with glow-in-the-dark games and activities, and a campfire sing-a-long, followed by an outdoor movie.  The festivities continued all day Saturday with paddle boating on the lake, canoeing, archery, hand-painting, outdoor cooking, a history scavenger hunt, hiking, and much more.

“It was awe-inspiring to see all of our Girl Scouts and volunteers join together to celebrate 75 years of Camp Edey,” says Yvonne Grant, President & CEO for Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. “We were delighted to see the exemplary show of support of Girl Scouting and we look forward to another wonderful 75 years of memories and adventures at Camp Edey.”
