Assemblyman Garbarino, Colleagues Join Forces To Sock Out Cancer
Albany, NY - June 8, 2017 - Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I,Ref-Sayville) joined his legislative colleagues in the Sock Out Cancer campaign, which is meant to help raise awareness and funds to support families afflicted by cancer. Those raising awareness wear colorful socks to bring attention to the hardships and struggles faced by families who are supporting and caring for cancer patients.
“Cancer is life changing for anyone diagnosed with it and it presents its own hardships and trials that families face when caring for their loved one,” said Garbarino. “I’m pleased to not only help raise awareness for cancer, but also to help stand up for the families who need our support. So, I hope people will join me in helping to Sock Out Cancer.”
The Sock Out Cancer initiative was started in New York. It looks to support families who are in financial distress due to a family member battling cancer. The organization first started its efforts in Broome County, in upstate New York, but has since grown to help spread support throughout the state and country.
