AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Hempstead Man Indicted For Rape Of Teen, According to Suffolk DA Spota

Jamal Taylor, a 33-year old Hempstead man, will be arraigned today for allegedly having sexual relations with a juvenile female in Brentwood.

Hempstead, NY - June 8, 2017 - 33-year old Hempstead man arrested for having sexual relations with a juvenile female in Brentwood last month will be arraigned on an indictment in Riverhead today (6/8), Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
 
Jamal Taylor was arrested by Suffolk County Police May 28 and charged with rape in the third degree. The alleged crime happened on May 24.
 
Taylor is incarcerated in the county jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.
 
Judge Barbara Kahn (second floor of the courthouse) will unseal the indictment Thursday.  The court calendar starts at 9:30 am.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
