SCPD: Two Men Arrested During Narcotics Investigation, Two Officers Injured
Islandia, NY - June 8, 2018 - Suffolk County Police have arrested two men following a narcotics investigation in Islandia.
During the course of a Narcotics investigation, detectives attempted to apprehend three men at Jakes 58 Hotel and Casino, located at 3635 Express Drive North on June 6 at approximately 5 p.m. Quendell Wiggins was taken into custody at the scene and the two other men fled.
A second man, Hagi Davis, stole a running vehicle from a nearby parking lot and fled eastbound on Express Drive South. The vehicle Davis was driving struck an SUV and several parked cars near Lake Promenade in Ronkonkoma a short time later. Two officers were injured while attempting to apprehend Davis.
Davis, 32, of Middle Island, was charged three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree.
Wiggins, 27, of Middle Island, was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.
Davis and the female driver of the SUV were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two officers were treated and released at Stony Brook University Hospital.
The third suspect fled on foot and has not been apprehended. The investigation is continuing.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
