The New York State Department of Transportation today advised motorists that the ramp from westbound Sunrise Highway (State Route 27) to southbound Wantagh State Parkway will be closed on Thursday, June 9 from 9 p.m. until 5 am the following morning, weather permitting, for highway maintenance. For access to southbound Wantagh Parkway, motorists should use the entrance from Merrick Road as an alternate route.
The right lane on southbound Wantagh Parkway in the vicinity of Exit W5 will also be closed during this time.
Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
