AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Woman Arrested in Farmingdale for Posession of Weapon & Controlled Substance

Farmingdale, NY - June 9, 2015 - The Second Squad reports the details of an arrest for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at 12:05 am in Farmingdale.

According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations Officers, on routine patrol observed a red Honda Accord driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on South Front Street.  The officers attempted to pull the vehicle over.  The automobile finally came to a stop at a residence on Denton Place.  A female driver exited the vehicle.  The officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the automobile and also observed a suboxone sublingual film packet on top of the center console.  Defendant Yulisa R. Almonte, 24, of 106 30th Street, Copiague was placed under arrest without further incident.  Subsequent to arrest, officers recovered a loaded 40 caliber glock handgun inside a center console, a loaded H&R nine shot revolver and a .22 caliber handgun inside a hidden compartment.  Also recovered was a pill believed to be Oxycodone and an additional suboxone. 

The defendant is being charged with 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.  She will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at First District Court, Hempstead.
