ELEVATED RISK OF FIRE SPREAD Increasing northwest winds and drying low levels will create conditions more conducive for fire spread today into early this evening. Relative humidity is expected to decrease to near 25 to 30 percent this afternoon into early this evening, while wind gusts increase to 35 to 45 mph. An isolated gust to 50 mph will be possible. These conditions would likely aid fire spread if ignition occurs. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Great Neck man for two incidents of Public Lewdness that occurred on Friday, May 31, 2019 in Kings Point.
 
According to detectives, George Husbands, 23, drove up to a 48 year old female on Kings Point Road near Georgian Lane at 10:12 am, asked her for directions and exposed himself to the victim who then walked away and contacted police.
 
At 10:30 am, Husbands drove up to another female victim, 35, on Kings Point Road asking for directions while exposing himself. That victim also walked away and contacted police.
 
A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to the identity and location of Husbands who was placed under arrest at his home without incident.
 
Husbands is charged with two (2) counts of Public Lewdness and was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 6/7/2019.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
