AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Hit and Run Accident Arrest in Glen Cove

State Troopers arrested a driver in relation to a hit and run accident, and for resisting arrest.

Glen Cove, NY - June 12, 2014  - On 6/11/14 at 6:04 PM, Lake Success troopers were dispatched to an accident on the Northern State Parkway near New Hyde Park Road.  Upon arrival, the trooper was informed by the operator of a maroon GMC that a gray BMW struck his vehicle and left the accident scene. Troopers obtained the license plate information and were able to locate the BMW at a residence on Byrd Street in Glen Cove.  The operator of the BMW, Shawn Bellamy, age 36, became combative and pushed the trooper before being taken into custody.
 
The defendant was arrested for Resisting Arrest(A Misd.), Disorderly Conduct(Violation), Misdemeanor Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and other traffic violations.  Mr. Bellamy was held for arraignment in Nassau County Court.
