Two Roosevelt Men Busted on Drug, Gun Charges, According to Officials

Roosevelt, NY - June 13, 2018 - Major Case Bureau detectives from the Gang Investigations Squad report the arrest of two (2) men from Roosevelt for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 9:05 p.m. in Roosevelt.
 
While on patrol in an unmarked vehicle, detectives observed Mark Fitzgerald, 22, on his front lawn on Mirin Avenue standing with David Wheeler, 30. Wheeler was observed smoking a marijuana cigarette in public view while Fitzgerald was pulling a firearm from his waistband and dropping it next to the stoop of Wheeler’s residence.
 
Detectives exited their vehicle and recovered the firearm after placing both subjects in police custody without further incident. 
 
Wheeler is charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana and was released on an Appearance Ticket.  Fitzgerald is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
