AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. A Bayville man was arrested after a drunk driving accident with an 11-year-old boy in his car.

Syosset, NY - June 14, 2014 - The Second Precinct reports the details of an arrest for driving while intoxicated, with a child in the car, which occurred in Syosset on Friday 06/13/14 at 9:36 P.M.
 
Second Precinct police officers responded to a call for a motor vehicle accident on Cold Spring Rd./Southwoods Rd. Upon arrival, the officer observed a 2008 Lexus in collision with a utility pole. The operator of the vehicle, Philip Briguglio, 50, of 18 Merrit Lane, Bayville, who had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and was unsteady on his feet, failed sobriety tests at the scene. His passenger, an 11-year-old boy, who complained of pain, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and was released.
 
Briguglio is being charged with DWI and Aggravated DWI with a Child Passenger (Leandra’s Law).  He will be arraigned on Saturday, 06/14/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
