Officials: Teen Arrested in Connection with Body Discovered Buried in Roosevelt Preserve

Roosevelt, NY - June 15, 2018 - Homicide Squad detectives have made an arrest in connection with a Homicide that was discovered on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 8:35 A.M. in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, the body of a male was discovered buried in a wooded area of the Roosevelt Preserve. Subsequent investigation had deemed the death a criminal homicide.
 
Detectives have identified the deceased as Josue Amaya Leonor, 19, of Roosevelt. The investigation is ongoing.
 
Defendant Jose Lopez, 19, of Roosevelt, has been arrested in connection with the above homicide. He is charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 15, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
