AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. DEC Announces Sea-level Rise Projection Meetings

The public will have an opportunity to comment on projections of future sea-level rise at four public information and listening meetings the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today.

Albany, NY - June 17, 2015 - The public will have an opportunity to comment on projections of future sea-level rise at four public information and listening meetings the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today. The Community Risk and Resiliency Act (CRRA), signed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in September 2014, requires DEC to adopt a regulation establishing official state sea-level rise projections by January 1, 2016. CRRA also requires DEC and other state agencies to develop guidance on implementation of CRRA by January 1, 2017.

DEC staff will present background on the Community Risk and Resiliency Act, and scientific information DEC is considering as it develops its regulation to establish sea-level rise projections. Participants will have the opportunity to provide additional input for DEC's consideration before it proposes a draft sea-level rise projection regulation. The meeting dates and locations are as follows:

Tuesday, June 23: 1:00 p.m. at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 340 Smith Road, Shirley, Suffolk County

Tuesday, June 23: 7:00 p.m. at Operation Splash, 202 Woodcleft Ave., Freeport, Nassau County

Wednesday, June 24: 10:00 a.m. at Hunter College, West Building, Room 511, 67th St. and Lexington Ave., New York City New York County

Thursday, June 25: 2:30 p.m. at DEC headquarters, Room 129, 625 Broadway, Albany, Albany County

Individuals planning to attend the June 25 meeting in Albany are asked to pre-register by e-mail or calling 518-402-8448. Failure to pre-register may result in delayed entry to the meeting. Those attending must present photographic identification.
