Major Case Bureau detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for an Assault that occurred in Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, Denis Hernandez-Figueroa, 19, was in possession of a handgun in an apartment on Jackson Street. He removed the magazine from the gun and pulled the trigger. One round was discharged and struck the female victim, 16, in her left foot. The victim went to an area hospital for treatment.
 
A thorough investigation was conducted and Denis Hernandez-Figueroa was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Hernandez-Figueroa is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Assault 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
