AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Huntington Station Man Arrested for Menacing Police Officers with Knives

Suffolk County Police have arrested a Huntington Station man for menacing two Suffolk County police officers with knives in Huntington Station yesterday.

Huntington Station, NY - June 18, 2015 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Huntington Station man for menacing two Suffolk County police officers with knives in Huntington Station yesterday.

Second Precinct Police Officers Joseph Reilly and Michael Lavrovsky responded to a call for a domestic incident on East 20th Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. When the officers arrived, they were confronted by Kevin Jaime who was holding a kitchen knife in each hand. Jaime walked toward the officers in a threatening manner and ignored their commands to drop the weapons. The officers deployed their Taser on Jaime who was then transported to Huntington Hospital.

Second Squad detectives charged Jaime, 21, of 1 West 15th St., Huntington Station, with Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
