AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. 25-Year-Old East Patchogue Motorcyclist Killed In Motor Vehicle Crash on Montauk Highway

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Blue Point this morning.

Steven Larsen, 25, of East Patchogue was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Blue Point, NY - June 22, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Blue Point this morning.

Steven Larsen was operating a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Montauk Highway when he passed a vehicle on the left at a high rate of speed and struck an eastbound 2013 Honda Civic that was making a left turn into the parking lot of Eastern Athletic Club, located at 9 Montauk Highway.

Larsen, 25, of East Patchogue, and the Honda driver, Nancy Schlener, 77, of Sayville, were both transported via Patchogue Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where Larsen was pronounced dead and Schlener was treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
