Hicksville, NY - June 24th, 2014 - The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Hicksville man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:59 a.m. in Hicksville.
According to police, John J. Broschart 73, of 111 Ballpark Lane was driving a 2013 Jeep northbound on Newbridge Road when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Jeep being driven by a 28 year old male. Broschart’s vehicle crossed the southbound lanes, crashed through a fence and continued into the rear of a house located on Blueberry Lane. One resident was assisted by a neighbor out of a second story window to safety. There were no injuries reported inside the home. The driver of the second vehicle refused medical attention at the scene. Broschart was placed under arrest and taken to an area hospital from treatment of minor injuries.
Broschart is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
