Mastic Beach, NY - June 24, 2015 - William Paca Middle School Spanish teacher Daniela Higueros recently presented at the Fourth Annual Workshop for Language Teachers and Learners at Stony Brook University, which was focused on creating the ideal language class for the future.

Ms. Higueros was the only speaker affiliated with a K-12 school and not associated with a college or university.

Ms. Higueros’ speech, “A Vision for the Future of LOTE Education,” highlighted foreign language instruction taught through total immersion or “teaching proficiency through reading and storytelling,” which focuses on the importance of bringing cultural connectivity into the classroom through virtual reality and cross-curricular lessons from museum websites into the foreign language classroom.
