New York State Senator Monica R. Martinez announced an additional $45,000 has been allocated to community-based programs in the Fourth Senatorial District. This follows last week's report from Senator Martinez that $35,000 was awarded to three programs serving the district. The latest round of funding secured by Senator Martinez will go to the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library, Teatro Experimental Yerbabruja, and the Wyandanch Union Free School District for:

  • Brightwaters Public Library: Awarded $10,000 to enhance the quality and frequency of its children, teen, and adult programming.
  • Teatro Experimental Yerbabruja: Granted $20,000 to support its art and theater education programs for students. The Bay Shore-based organization serves communities across Long Island, with a focus on Central Islip, Brentwood, and North Bay Shore.
  • Wyandanch Union Free School District: Received $15,000 to support the social and emotional wellness of girls through the Butterfly Club Mentorship Program.

"Our community is made stronger through the programs offered by these organizations," said Senator Martinez.  "I am grateful for the opportunity to assist these incredible programs, which will support our neighbors and improve the quality of life throughout the Fourth Senatorial District."

This is the second round of grants to be released from funding provided through the state’s fiscal year 2025 budget, adopted this spring.  So far this month, Senator Martinez has reported the Amityville UFSD will receive $10,000 to enhance its environmental research center for students; Citizenship Initiative for Change will receive $10,000 to assist minority groups in navigating the citizenship examination process, and the Suffolk County Police Athletic League, Inc. will receive $15,000 to expand mentoring and camp programs.

Additional award announcements are expected throughout the summer.
