AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD: Mastic Beach Woman Arrested After Allowing 15-Year-Old Daughter to Go Joyriding Alone

SCPD arrested Yolanda Martinez-Reymundo of Mastic Beach, 41, after her 15-year-old daughter was pulled over for speeding.

Eastport, NY - June 25, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a woman after her 15-year-old daughter was pulled over for speeding in Eastport on Sunday, June 24, 2018.
 
A Highway Patrol Bureau officer observed a 1997 Mercury Sable traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound Sunrise Highway near exit 62 in Eastport at 9:30 a.m. and pulled over the vehicle. The driver was a 15-year-old female.
 
The officer determined that the teen’s mother, Yolanda Martinez-Reymundo, allowed the teen to drive the Mercury alone.
 
Martinez-Reymundo, 41, Mastic Beach, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on June 25.
