AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT MONDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Westley Witts, 27, threatened both victim and police with vice grips; arrested on robbery, drug, weapon, and other charges, cops say.

Roosevelt, NY - June 26, 2017 - The First Squad reports the Arrest of a Roosevelt man for a Robbery that occurred on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Roosevelt.
 
According to Detectives, at 1:36am defendant Westley Witts, 27, while on Nassau Road, stated to the male victim, 53, that he was going to take his bicycle. The victim tried to stop him but the defendant grabbed a pair of vice grips and threatened the victim. He then jabbed the victim in the stomach with the bicycle and a struggle ensued.  
 
When Officers arrived on scene the defendant refused the Officers lawful verbal commands to drop the vice grips; he then began to show aggression toward the Officers. The defendant resisted arrest and a brief struggle ensued, he was placed under arrest at 2:08am.
 
Defendant Westley Witts is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Monday, June 26, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
